Patch 1.36

We fixed the bugs we managed to implement with 1.35. Now everything should work just fine. Thanks for your patience and have fun with our game!

Patch 1.2 and Companions Lite Uploaded

Greetings Earthlings!

It's finally done. Yesterday evening we uploaded the new patch. With a little bit of luck it'll be available this weekend! Here's the list of what we added/fixed/changed:

- fixed: several bugs which immobilized the characters
- fixed: group movement: the character's won't block themselves any longer
- fixed: nets now work correctly again
- fixed: relocated some autosaves which could cause problems
- fixed: skill spamming no longer possible
- fixed: several problems with the tactical pause
- fixed: problem with the ranged units (shooting while moving)
- fixed: enemies no longer become invisible
- fixed: some bugs that froze the skills and lead to immobilization
- fixed: keyboard input issue
- fixed: save games from version 1.0 now work correctly on map_01

- added: new save menu: auto/quicksave + 7 manual save slots
- added: contact links in the options menu

- balancing: enhanced the movement speed of the dwarf and the human from 1 to 1.25
- balancing: tweeked values for Wand of Fire-/ball/-storm, Hoof of Flash and Nets

- new: App Icon

We did a lite version of Companions also. So all of you who don't believe in the absolute fantasmorgical experience our beauty offers, will now be able to check the game out before buying. The lite version features the tutorial and the first campaign map, The Gathering!

We're currently testing our next patch, which will fix the issues of the former. As a bonus, we added a new save menu, which vastly improves saving your games. You'll now have Auto-/Quick-/ and 7 manual save slots per game!

here we go friends, the first update will be ready soon.

Core Play Elements

• group move and formations
• better item handling. You can now DRAG&DROP items on player portraits (if the characters are adjacent to each other; a small bag will appear at the character portraits)
• if you leave a single map using "Leave Game" in the options menu, the map will be SAVED. A "Continue" button appears at the bottom of the "Single Map" screen, so you can resume the map; if you die, the save will be deleted!
• Tooltips don't appear where your finger is any longer
• 4.2.1 compatibility

New Stuff

• new items (unique armors, Book of the Ambusher)
• new single map "Elemental Assault"

Fixes

• campaign menu crash: fixed a bug that crashed the game when using specific keyboard settings (only standard western settings may be used to name your save game or characters); corrupted save games will be renamed in order to work again!
• autosave added in map 2 (Freddy now drops the items when you connect with the App Store and an autosave occurs right after that)
• save point on map 4 corrected (it now saves after the bridge is created)
• several minor fixes

We improved inventory handling. you can now drag&drop items on the portrait of characters standing next to the active character. No more drop on the floor, go away and take it with another character stuff.

6 new unique armors and "Book of the Ambusher" integrated

The update should be read next week. We do a littly more playtesting and then upload to apple.

Save Game & Single Maps & Keyboard Settings

Hi friends,

because some people complain about a missing save option, we feel there's some need for a clarification:

You may ONLY save in the campaign. Whenever you want.

Single Maps can NEVER be saved. On highscore maps, saving would be like cheating.


 Another important issue:

If you name your savegame with other characters than the US/European keyboard setting allows, the game will crash and you will have to install again. Please use the english keyboard setting when entering a savegame name.

With the next update you will see a warning appear and the use of unsupported characters will be prohibited.

Hi friends.

the first update will be ready in 2-3 weeks and it'll feature some fine new stuff. We have already implemented group movement and some cool new items. You will also be able to play Companions with iOS 4.2.1 or higher installed. I'll post about the other stuff once its 100% that it'll make it into the update.

I couldn't believe my eyes yesterday evening.

We are featured in New & Noteworthy in the category Role Playing in the U.S. , U.K. and in Germany. to top it off we were also featured in the the Actions category, this time only in Germany and the U.K. .


Now I know, this isn't the major New & Noteworthy category, but it felt good all the same.

I dunno if anybody reads this, but the two star review on the US App Store is wrong, regarding the missing save option. Of course we implemented a manual save. You can save by getting into the pause menue.

This review really got me angry, but hey! what the heck, the world is a strange and sometimes terribly dumb place.

Hey people!

Just want to inform you, that we are extremly close to uploading the game to Apple. As always we found some last minute things that we implemented to enhance your enjoyment of the game.

As it is now, the game features 10+ hours of gameplay for the campaign only. And that's with one of the possible combinations of characters! The game is HUGE!

COMPANIONS Preview

Welcome to companions-game.com!

"Companions" is a top-view RPG/Dungeon Crawler/Roguelike for Apples IPad, where you lead a team of four characters into real-time battles against the false god "Detexx" and the "Hordes of Nether".

The game is playable as a campaign with a full-fledged storyline or as a single-map experience, packed with achievements and leaderboards. Both modes are single player only. Fight to save Altland or compare your battle prowess with players all over the world.

Instead of playing one character you play a party of four:

• Minoatur: a warrior who gives as good as he gets
• Elf: this gal was born with a bow in hands
• Dwarf: he likes to build things, deadly things
• Human: never content with the magic powers he wields

More details about the races and classes will be revealed soon so stay tuned for more information!
